About

Stuck in Reverse

There must be more to life than this – trapped in the same routine, day in and day out. It’s all so exhausting.

Your mind just won’t stop. You constantly try to make sure that you’re prepared for anything that could happen, but you never really feel prepared.

You replay things over and over – questioning what someone meant, if people at work like you, how you looked or came across when you said or did whatever it was, etc.

But it never seems good enough. And it never feels like you’re enough.

Life isn’t a test – but it feels like you’re being tested all the time, and failing.

Enough is Enough

You don’t think anyone could possibly understand what you’re going through, the stuff that you’re too embarrassed to admit.

It seems like everyone else has their life together but you. You feel like such a fraud.

And dear God, if one more person tells you to meditate. As if you could actually focus long enough to do that.

You want things to be different, but there’s a big part of you that doesn’t think that’s possible.

Real Change is Possible

Somewhere along the way, you learned a lot of things about yourself that keep you stuck.

It’s like you took a wrong turn and just kept going.

You need a break – and you need someone who can help you gain skills to become the person you want to be in the world.

About Me

“They tell us from the time we’re young to hide the things that we don’t like about ourselves, inside ourselves.
I know I’m not the only one who spent so long pretending to be someone else.

Well, I’m over it.”
– Mary Lambert, “Secrets”

I’ve Been There, Too!

I’m a perfectionist in recovery and I get what it’s like to have head trash. I spent a good portion of my life afraid and trying to prove myself to myself.

I also recovered from an eating disorder so I know it’s possible, however challenging the road may be.

One doctorate in Clinical Psychology and lots of my own therapy and student loans later, and here I am. And what was once a hindrance to me is now something I use as a strength with my clients.

A Bit About Therapy

Therapy is a bit like my experience of rock climbing. It can appear impossible at the outset, looking up at this huge and seemingly insurmountable mountain wall that’s been around forever. But then you climb up and you learn to find all these handholds and footholds along the way that aren’t initially so obvious. We all have that in us, the not-so-apparent parts of ourselves. And we can learn how to find them and use them to climb what feels like mountains. But we can’t do it alone. We need someone belaying us at the bottom who we can trust won’t let us fall.

I want to empower you to find those strengths that maybe you don’t even know exist. My goal is for you to walk away with a different mindset and a whole bunch of skills so that you know how to deal with whatever comes your way. I will help you gain confidence and discover the best in you so that you don’t spend a moment longer than you need living a life that doesn’t work for you. And I won’t let you fall.

A Little More About Me

I’m originally from the NY/NJ area, which means I can have a bit of an accent at times and a penchant for colorful language. I moved around a lot before ending up in CO and stayed because it instantly felt like home.

My emphasis in grad school was multicultural psychology so that shapes how I work with people. Diversity is so important to me that I founded the annual Higher Education Diversity Summit (now called HEDS365) at Metropolitan State University of Denver during my post-doc there.

What matters isn’t how I see the world, but how you do.

I’ve worked in university and college counseling centers, community mental health, with first responders, in eating disorder treatment centers, including Avalon Hills and the ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders at Denver Health/University of Colorado Anschutz Medical School, and with children, teens, and adults from a multitude of backgrounds. I’m also President of the Denver Metro International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.

I love what I do, and I’m excited to get to know you.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me having an outdoor adventure of one kind or another with my wonderful husband, 2 amazing kids, and spunky dog, Jax.
